The Protective Power of Biblical Wisdom…

I heard a comment by Dr Frank Turek the other day as I was listening to a podcast of his. A question was put forth, “If you found Christianity to be true would you become a Christian?” Some of the responses were ‘No.”

Basically, I think what he is saying is people don’t want to believe in God because God might want them to do something they don’t want to do. They want to call the shots. Be their own boss. They don’t want to have to answer to God.

Society makes it quite convenient for these type of thinkers to join a growing group of people who are caught up in this “New Thought” ideology. An ideology that promotes personal authority over faith in God and the authority of Christ. It can get confusing for those who are new in their Christian faith. Those without a solid biblical foundation can get tripped up as well. They hear terms that have the flavor of Christianity but without the substance.

Being the boss of your life carries with it huge responsibilities. A person who depends on themselves for all the answers in life will somewhere on the road come up empty handed. And from what I can discern, life has huge disappointments for these type of thinkers.

There is a book in the Bible titled, Ecclesiastes (in the Old Testament). It was written by King Solomon during the 10th century BC. He wrote it later in life after he had experienced life and had finally come up with some solid answers. A revealing narrative as to what is truly important. It warns us that living life dependent upon whatever your mind comes up with has a predictable end. Human endeavor leads to meaningless results.

Those who get tripped up by New Thought ideology do so because they are not growing in the wisdom and understanding of God’s word. They use their minds, without the influence of Scripture, to filter their experiences. They are influenced by human reasoning and are led astray. Slowly they become blinded as to what is Truth. Without the protection of biblical wisdom our understanding will be seriously jeopardized.

Proverbs 2:6-12 NLT

For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
He guards the paths of the just
and protects those who are faithful to him.

Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair,
and you will find the right way to go.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will fill you with joy.
11 Wise choices will watch over you.
    Understanding will keep you safe.

12 Wisdom will save you from evil people,
from those whose words are twisted.

Fighting against the unseen…

God’s word reveals deception, if God’s word becomes your filter!

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 KJV

Let’s ask ourselves this question: ‘How much time do we spend in God’s word and in prayer.’ Unfortunately, there are some of us, though we call ourselves Christians, rarely open our Bibles. Additionally, we aren’t quite sure of even how to pray! Why is that?

If our vision is limited to only see the physical aspects of our social, political, or personal struggles, then we can fall prey to Satan’s manipulation and deception. Therefore, we won’t grasp that the real struggle or battle is on the supernatural level. And to wage war on that level, we need to be familiar with our Bibles.

For it is within the pages of Scripture where the enemy gets exposed. (Not surprising then is it that he would desire to keep us from opening such) Therefore, being able to identify the enemy and his tactics, we then search the Scriptures for the mighty weapons God has for us to use to defeat the enemy. Satan knows the 6th chapter of Ephesians, if applied, will upend his battle plan.

Becoming informed through the Truths laid out in Scripture, we will become equipped to weather the storms life will most certainly hurl at us. As we grow in this wisdom and knowledge, the curtain of deception is pulled back. We will conform to God’s Truth and be set free. The enemy’s fiery darts, sent to steal, kill, and destroy us will not only be exposed but extinguished.

Pray for discernment to see what is unseen!

Choosing Faith Over Fear: A Path to Strength

Faith overcomes fear!

In light of recent global news, I believe I am faced with two choices. I can choose to allow fear to rule my thoughts and affect my choices. Alternatively, I can choose to plant my faith firmly in God’s Truth.

.If I choose fear, a formidable fiery dart, then I can be assured it will negatively affect my health. Additionally, my spiritual/mental state, and my emotional well-being, as well. That in turn will negatively affect my relationship with my family and my friends. Considering Satan’s intention to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10a), not only my life, but my witness would be impaired. So consider this. If Satan can pick us off one by one in this way, God’s army would be facing a demoralizing threat. right!

However, If I chose faith, then I have access to the mighty weapons of God mentioned in 2 Corinthians 10:4. With those weapons, I can counter every attack of the enemy. I can according to the second part of John 10:10, have an abundant life. Now, consider the powerful force of God’s army when we access such weapons!

God’s plans always succeed. We might not believe this if we lack the knowledge gleaned from the reading of Scripture. For that is where not only are God’s plans revealed but Satan’s as well. Is it any wonder then why Satan would distract us from spending time becoming informed about God’s weapons?

Yet, with the passage of time, our enemy has, with stealth and patience, deceived us into believing daily reading of God’s word isn’t all that necessary. The result is Christians have become malnourished and just plain ignorant of how to resist the enemy. Making us prime targets for, in this case, the fiery dart of fear.

Case in Point: Recently, by God’s leading, I’ve have discovered the following Truth thought in my battle with the fiery dart of fear.

Proverbs 2:6-12a

For the Lord gives wisdom;
from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He stores up success[a] for the upright;
He is a shield for those who live with integrity
so that He may guard the paths of justice
and protect the way of His loyal followers.
Then you will understand righteousness, justice,
and integrity—every good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your mind,
and knowledge will delight your heart.
11 Discretion will watch over you,
and understanding will guard you,
12 rescuing you from the way of evil—…

Notice verse 10. The result of conferring with God is that wisdom will enter our minds. That very wisdom will rescue us from the way of evil.

In addition, God directed me to the following:

Col 2:8, Be careful that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deceit based on human tradition, based on the elemental forces of the world (any godless idea raised up against the knowledge of God. based on 2 Corinthians 10:5)

But know this. To avail ourselves to these truths, we must go to the source of Truth. Then plant our faith firmly in what is revealed to us there. Then Faith will rule our thoughts, not fear!
