The 3 R’s of FD’s

   On 2/17/14) I felt impressed to write  a post entitled the 3 R’s of fighting fiery darts. Since that time, I have found it to be a powerful piece of ammunition. It is easy to remember and serves as a quick retaliation against persistent fiery darts.  Now you can easily go to my fd’s blog, click on the page tab,The 3 R’s of FD’s, for a ready reference! 

1. RECOGNIZE!

Examine the suspicious thought. If pondering on this thought rouses up negative and destructive emotions then you are dealing with a fiery dart. And remember the intention of fiery darts is to obstruct your communication with God,  driving you further from prayer and God’s Word. 

REJECT

As soon as you determine that the suspicious thought is a fiery dart, then put up your Shield of Faith and reject it. Remember, by allowing it to remain, the poison of the fiery dart begins seeping into your mind influencing the formation of negative attitudes which yields negative actions.
As Barney Fife put it so eloquently, “Nip it, Nip it, Nip it!” (In the bud, before its poison begins to spread!)

3. REPLACE

Every single time this fiery dart thought attempts to infiltrate your mind, quickly and persistently replace it with a Truth thought. There’s a precise piece of scripture that describe the character of these Truth thoughts: Philippines 4:8 “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (NIV) 

For example:

 Every time a fiery dart thought of fear attempts to invade my mind, I quote the following Truth thought: 2 Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. KJV

OK, that’s it! So just remember: 

Recognize – Reject – Replace 

And watch those fiery darts fizzle!
